Bradford Bulls reaped revenge for their defeat to Quins last Sunday, scoring six tries in the first half to put the game beyond the reach of the Londoners.
Halley scored a hat trick of tries in the opening 20 minutes to give the visitors the best possible start. This was only interrupted by a Quins try for captain Rob Purdham, making his long awaited return from wrist surgery which had seen him on the sidelines for seven games.
Burgess and Menzies added further tries in the first half, though the home side did receive a boost when Lamont Bryan came on the field for his first appearance in a Quins shirt this season. Bryan almost went over himself with his first touch of the ball, and in a thrilling five minute spell that followed, Sharp also nearly scored, moments after making a try-saving tackle.
The end of the first half produced a very strange moment. Deacon kicked for a penalty which hit the post. From the resulting bounce, Burgess picked up the ball and off-loaded to former Quin, Michael Worrincy, who touched down between the posts.
Half time, and the Bulls led 36-6.
The start of the second half looked far more positive for Quins, who never left the Bulls 20m area. However the third quarter would turn into a scrappy affair, with no scores for either side until Godwin bullied his way over on 61 minutes to extend the lead for the Bulls.
The home side have the final say, with a second try for Purdham and a well worked effort from Sharp who went over in the corner. It would be, however, little consolation. Final score: 18-42.
Afterwards Brian McDermott praised the Bulls for overturning last weekend’s result:
“To give Bradford credit, they’ve bounced back and regrouped from last week and played very well from the off.
He went on to state the importance of captain Rob Purdham's return to the team.
"Purdham is vital to our squad, not just the team. It's hard if you don't have some of your personalities in the team, so it's good that he's back and having an influence in the dressing room."
