In January 2010 the House of Commons provided the venue for the launch of Harlequins Rugby League’s Charitable Trust, “The Harlequins Rugby League Foundation.”
Within the Foundation we will deliver all of our community and grass roots activity including rugby league, dance and many other sports.
The Foundation recognises that sport has a power that can be harnessed to inspire, to educate and to motivate thousands of individuals within our community.
The Foundation’s aims are:
• To help build up a more active, inclusive and healthier community
• To improve educational standards within our community
• To help create a safer and cohesive community
We hope to create opportunities for players of any age or ability to participate in rugby league and other sports in school, college, university and ultimately clubs.
By building good relationships with schools and creating and promoting pathways to local clubs, we aim to boost the number of players participating and in turn gradually raise playing standards.
The capital is blessed with the best talent pool in the country. We are working closer to the football department to identify the best young athletes to enter our talent programmes, and ultimately generate more home-grown Harlequins Rugby League stars to join those who have emerged over recent years.
