The other two teams present produced an end-to-end nail bighter as an athletic and lively Sheen side edged to a memorable victory over the determined boys from Hampton Community College. With the majority of these players new to the sport, the potential for both schools to become real contenders for honours in 2010 is becoming ever more realistic.
Tournament organiser and Harlequins Community Coach for Richmond, Darren Pugsley, was thrilled by the successes on the day and the enthusiasm shown by both players and teachers:
“2009 has been the biggest Champion Schools to date and the number one goal is to make 2010 even bigger and give these fantastic players an even better Rugby League experience.”
The whole Harlequins Community Team would sincerely like to thank every player, teacher and supporter for all their efforts during the Boys Champion Schools Calendar. We look forward to helping you in your preparations for the Girls Champion Schools in the New Year as well as some new events soon to be announced.
