Paul Sykes to leave The Stoop
4 September 2007, 11:31 am
By sarahb
Quins RL have agreed terms with the Bradford Bulls allowing Sykes to be released two years prior to the end of his original contract.
Sykes, who has played for London since 2002, will make the move North to join his partner following the recent birth of their first child.

Sykes has said 'I have enjoyed my time at Harlequins but it is the right time for me to move back home. My family are up there and we have just had a baby so it couldn't have worked out better for me."

The 26 year old, who is the clubs current leading try and points scorer, has very much enjoyed his time with the Harlequins, something that has been reflected in his development as a player at both club and international level.

Harlequins RL Head Coach Brian McDermott has said 'Paul came to the club as a fringe player from Bradford Bulls and under the guidance of Tony Rea has developed into one of the best strike centres in the game.

'His progression from reserve standard to a full GB cap is testimony to Paul and the coaching staff over the years'

'I would like to take this opportunity to wish Paul all the best for the future' he added.

Sykes will play his final home game for the Quins this Saturday afternoon when they take on the Salford City Reds at The Twickenham Stoop. Kick off is at 3pm.
