29 October 2007, 4:08 pm
By laurenh
The 21 year old Londoner, who was already on contract with Quins RL until the end of 2008, has agreed to a two year extension keeping him at The Stoop until the end of 2010.
The tough running Prop, originally from the Greenwich Admirals Rugby League Club, joined the London based side's junior Academy in 2004 contributing immensely to the team's success and earning himself a selection in the GB BARLA's under 18's tour to Australia. McCarthy-Scarsbrook then spent a season on loan at Hull FC's Senior Academy before joining the Harlequins RL first team in 2006.

The powerful youngster has been described as one of the best talents to come out of London and 2007 saw him firmly establish himself as a permanent first team player featuring in 22 games for the Quins.

Harlequins RL Head Coach Brian McDermott has said: 'Louie has been making steady progress on the field. He's still got some improvements to make and we feel that we have got the right environment here for him to do that.'

'We are showing faith in our local and British youngsters and we are more than happy that Louie has put his faith in us as well.'

McCarthy-Scarsbrook has said: 'It's great to know I have my future for the next three years secured and to be in that situation with the Quins is fantastic. London is my home, there is nowhere else I would want to be playing top level rugby league.'

'It's great the club have showed confidence in me long term.'

'I can't wait to get back to playing now, I'm really looking forward to next season' he went on to say.

McCarthy-Scarsbrook is among a growing number of talented London bred players that are finding their way into the Quins first team squad. Other locals that will feature alongside McCarthy-Scarsbrook when pre-season training starts back next month are newly signed Will Sharp and Lamont Bryan as well as Joe Mbu, Mike Worrincy and Tony Clubb.

This announcement comes on the same day that Harlequins RL announced Keith Hogg as the club's new Chairman and Paul Brown as Chief Executive Officer.
