Joe originally played junior Rugby league with his local side London Skolars in North London, before moving on to London Broncos academy. A fine all round athlete, Joe was considered by many judges to have been unlucky to miss out on the GB Academy tour to Australia in 2001. By way of further development Joe was loaned for the 2002 season to Huddersfield’s senior Academy side. Similarly Joe spent a similar period with Leeds Rhinos in 2003 where he impressed experienced judges.

A determined individual, Joe in 2004 earned the respect of many when he stayed on the field for a time with what proved to be a broken arm! In 2007 Joe spent a short spell captaining Doncaster in the National League. However following the onset of financial difficulties at the Yorkshire club, Joe returned to London to assist Quins who were in the midst of a considerable injury crisis. Playing often at prop in 2007, Joe battled above his weight and showed both good go forward and great agility in defence.

In 2008 Joe continued his progression, and in the early season particularly, his excellent form was attracting plenty of positive attention. Joe also enjoys football and basketball and has shown what a fully rounded individual he is by displaying his acting skills on stage at the Edinburgh festival!

At the end of the 2009 season, Joe announced his retirement from playing rugby league.
