Formerly a New Zealand Warrior, Karl joined London in September 2005 for the closing stages of Super League X. Karl didn’t play the game of Rugby League until he was aged 15 when he joined local side Hibiscus Coast.

In 2000, whilst still at Hibiscus Coast in the Bartercard Cup competition, Karl appeared in the UK for the Cook Islands in the Rugby League World Cup. Initially a utility player, Karl played at centre or, as during the 2000 World Cup, on the wing, the position from where he scored a try in the Cook Island’s defeat by Wales.

After signing for NRL club New Zealand Warriors in 2002, Karl graduated to more forward positions in the scrum and has developed a strong defensive game, and with his speed and agility, Karl is considered to be one of the best front-on defenders in the game. After arriving in the Capital Karl made three late season appearances in 2005; including the play-off defeat at Bradford.

Karl opened the 2006 season in fine form but unfortunately much of the campaign was subsequently missed through injury. In 2007 Karl had regained his fitness, and his consistent performances in the front row over the last two years has gained the recognition of his coach and the club at large, a fact confirmed when Karl was named Quins RL “Forward of the Year” at the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Karl consistenly produced solid performances throughout the 2009 season and was subsequently named Player of the Year at the end of season awards.
