Originating from Lancashire, David played for Leigh Centurions Junior academy side, impressing enough to represent England Under 17's and Lancashire at Under 18 level.
In 2004 David crossed the Pennines to join the Leeds academy. This initial season saw him score nine tries from 16 academy appearances and to complete the year in fine fashion he was a member of Leeds successful Academy Championship winning side against Widnes. In both 2005 and 2006 David spent periods on loan with National League outfits, before at the end of 2006 repeating his previous academy success by being a member of the Leeds side that defeated Hull in the Academy Grand Final.
Played in front of a crowd of 2,654 and in terrible conditions, Leeds clinched the Championship by the highly unusual scoreline of 1-0, courtesy of a late drop goal.
During 2007 David was a regular in Harlequins Under 21 Academy side and was a little unlucky not to make his first grade debut. At the seasons conclusion David underwent surgery but is expected to be fit for the 2008 campaign.
Away from rugby David likes playing basketball and pool and enjoys listening to music.
